All in one Gen2

Hi all,
Looking to get 12V Gen2 router and 12V Dishy mod into the one case (All in One), is there a way to POE to 12 V the dish? so i can use the single cable?
And whats the best way to get RJ45 /Direct solder the dishy cable to the Router Board and maybe get 12 POE form the Board?

Hi Ed,
You can't power Gen2 Dishy with 12 V PoE—it needs ~48 V and proper injection. Don't solder directly; use an adapter and separate regulated power.

Hi Ed,

It's doable, but not easy. You can use a passive PoE injector on both sides to inject and extract power. Injector is bi-directional by its nature.
But... you can't use 12V here. The current at 12V will be extremely high for the PoE injector and Ethernet cable. That's why you need a DC-DC converters to step up the power from the original 12V to 48V, then step it back down to 12V on the Dish side to run the router and 12V mod.
