Title: USB to RS485 problem
Post by: plig on Apr 16, 2026, 12:26 PM
Hello,

I designed an USB to RS485 converter, but got some problem with the FT232RL chip. As soon as i connect usb to the pcb and look at FT_prog where i need to program the chip, it works, but after 10sec it stops working and i get an error that the USB device is not recognized.

I added the schematic and PCB. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since the device works initially, Deadshot IO (https://deadshotgame.io) I would first monitor the FT232RL's supply rails and temperature, then test the FT232RL with the RS485 section isolated. That should quickly distinguish a USB/FT232RL problem from an RS485-side problem.
