Title: How long the PHY connection cable can be? Starlink Mini
Post by: Astor on Oct 01, 2025, 04:57 PM
Looking for an actual @Oleg response but if anybody else knows all keystrokes will very very very much appreciated.

Oleg explained that the PHY connection must not be too long from the Mini's router to the Mini's dish otherwise will degrade and wont work properly. He has a ethernet mod which would be amazing to purchase but my application requires a way slimmer connector therefore RJ45 is not the way to go (at least not on the dish compartment) designed an entire new flat bottom case.

Questions:
- How long I can run a cable from the Dish to the Router? (2.5 meters will be enough for me)
- That cable needs to have all 18 pins or can use the Ethernet x8 + Gnd x1 + 12v x1 ?
- If none of previous one are positive, there is any way to create a ethernetboard that uses a 2mm header or a USB C for that matter to run a small connector from the dish to the router (or any router) for that matter

THANKS SO MUCH!

Looks like it would feasible using the SPX to Ethernet for this purpose to get the PHY and send it to the router or any router throughout the SPX connector (I will remove the plastic enclosure)
